A suspension assembly for supporting a transducer of a disk drive, an actuator assembly for a disk drive, and a method for attaching a head gimbal assembly

The head gimbal assembly for the disc drive is attached to the actuator arm using an adhesive. An etch pattern is formed in the mounting plate of the head gimbal assembly to define an engaging surface area. The actuator arm is received by a mating surface area, the two members are properly aligned, and an adhesive is injected into the various channels with an etched pattern through an access opening located outside of the mating surface area. By placing the access opening outside the engagement surface area, the adhesive may be injected after the final command is made between the head gimbal assembly and the actuator arm. Attachment in this manner may be used for individual actuator arms as well as for connecting the head gimbal assembly to an actuator comb assembly.
