FIELD: mining industry. SUBSTANCE: maneuverability of support is ensured due to fact, that adjacent support sections are installed with overlapping of their upper parts 6. Value of overlapping corresponds to support advancing pitch. Connection between adjacent sections is effected by longitudinal tie-rod 11 of variable length with ball joints 13, 14 at its ends which are secured on upper parts 6 of adjacent section covering. Ball joints 13, 14 function as axle for turning of sections not limiting their turning in any plane. Advancement of support is effected section after section by means of advancing hydraulic cylinders 5. Initially work face section 1 is moved, simultaneously lengthened for overlapping value is longitudinal tie-rod 11 which is made up of two parts. Upper part 6 of work face section 1 keeps its tail end in contact with cylindrical protrusion 19 made in front end of upper part 6 of linear section 2. Then linear section 2 is advanced. Longitudinal tie-rod 11 located between sections 1 and 2 is shortened in length by value of overlapping of adjacent sections, and longitudinal tie-rod 11 located between sections 2 and 3 is increased in length.
