FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: invention consists in that, as blow nozzle shortens in the process of blowing smelt, its position $$$ is stabilized with regard to inert gas pressure value by imparting vertical direction to blow nozzle. Stabilization time is restricted to avoid effect of metallization of nozzle on control result. Control procedure is every time commenced at the moment when pressure drops below specified level. The latter is calculated as sum of immersion of new blow nozzle into smelt and metallostatic pressure at specified $$$. EFFECT: enabled stabilizing blow nozzle position with no regard to occurring metallization of nozzle. 2 dwg
