FIELD: agricultural engineering. SUBSTANCE: method is based on determination of recommended transmissions of machine-and-tractor set proceeding from permissible loading of engine relative to its power resource under given conditions and for given type of work. In case permissible motion speed of machine-and-tractor set is exceeded, engine shaft rotational velocity is reduced till preset degree of loading with respect to power resource at given rotational speed of engine shaft is obtained. Device for realization of this method has sensor of power and engine shaft rotational velocity, sensor of engine loading and of machine-and-tractor set motion speed, computers of power resource and degree of engine loading, mode of operation switch in the form of set-point device of permissible engine loading degree and machine-and-tractor set motion speed for given type of work, and comparators for comparison of the values with actual ones, logical unit designed to determine situations when it is necessary to control loading and high-speed modes of operation, and indicators of raising and reduction of machine-and-tractor set transmission and engine shaft rotational velocity. Inputs of indicators are connected through logical unit and comparators, respectively, to outputs of sensor of machine-and-tractor set motion speed, mode of operation switch and computer of power resource utilization rate. Computer input is connected to outputs of power sensor and power resource determination unit. EFFECT: higher efficient control. 2 cl, 3 dwg, 1 tbl
