FIELD: physical chemistry. SUBSTANCE: method measuring volume of adsorbed particles consists in formation of column of liquid solution of electrolyte. Two electrodes are positioned in two different points along length of column in its center part. Alternating current of specified frequency is passed through electrodes and longitudinal standing waves of displacement of solution are recorded on same frequency. Their amplitude is used to determine derivative of charge volume of system and contribution of adsorbed particles is isolated from derivative. Nodal points of standing waves of displacement of solution are used to place electrodes. Standing waves recorded in case of location of two electrodes in adjacent nodal points during passing of current of specified frequency are compared with standing waves recorded in one nodal point during passing of current of half as much frequency. Derivative of charge volume of system is found with various values of average potential of electrodes. Column of liquid solution is formed in vertical cylindrical vessel with free surface of liquid solution and standing waves of displacement of solution are recorded by way of determination of vibrations of vessel bottom.
