The adaption method uses a number of classes assigned to the range of values for the input parameters supplied to the fuzzy regulator, with modification of the assigned classes in dependence on the combination of values for the input parameters and the regulator or regulator system output parameter during a learning phase. Specific classes can be removed or new classes can be generated, with the function and the regulation parameters of the regulator or regulator system adapted in dependence on the actual classes.
