Preparation of aldehydes comprises hydroformylation of olefinically unsaturated compounds with hydrogen (H2) and carbon monoxide (CO) in homogeneous phase in the presence of a catalyst system containing an organometallic complex compound and a molar excess of the ligand and separation of the catalyst system from the reaction mixture by pressure filtration on a semipermeable membrane of aromatic polyamide. The molar ratio of ligand to (I) is 9-30, preferably 10-25, especially 10-15; and (b) alkyl- or aryl-ammonium salts (I) of sulphonated, carboxylated or phosphonated aromatic diphosphines are not used as ligand.
