Straightening machine for wire and rod

The machine passes the wire or rod workpiece (7) through pairs of rollers which are aligned to counteract any curvature in the workpiece. This curvature is measured by sensors in two orthogonal planes to control pairs of rollers in two orthogonal planes, thereby correcting e.g. twists in the workpiece. The surfaces of the rollers are shaped to grip the round workpieces. The setting of the roller pairs is controlled by a self-learning control system, with a second set of sensors to monitor the degree of straightening.
