A process for uniform load distribution in substations for electrically driven vehicles which are equipped with controlled converters and lines switched through with coupling switches is described. A hierarchically membered guide/control system consisting of three planes is used, which consist of the guide/control-plane with a guide/control computer, the control plane with control devices and the process plane with computers on each vehicle. In control operation, the guide/management computer processes in real-time the stored information --travel plan --station holding time --special features of the line/topology --mathematical models for the braking and starting prognosis of each vehicle and the status reports transmitted from the vehicles and provided with their special vehicle code as well as information received from the substations --vehicle code --availability for travel --load current --braking current --acceleration --speed --position/line information --total current
