Installation for protecting aerospace objects, airfields and radar stations etc from lightning

As part of an installation for protecting prominent building complexes or sailing vessels against lightning strikes it is proposed to site a firing projector battery (2) holding one or more ionisation rockets (1) in close proximity to a lightning conductor mast (3) which is solidly connected (4) to a grounded earth plate (5). In addition to their propellant charge the rockets (1) are designed to carry an ionising powder and/or an electrically conducting powder in order to precipitate discharges from cloud concentrations. Several alternative designs of fixed or turntable mounted projectors and possible arrangements of rocket interior are illustrated.
