The control method involves resolving individual partial train paths or routes and determining a renewed total train path by using remaining partial train paths of the original total train path. A marker identifying an existence of a remaining total train path is transmitted to signal elements following a renewed total train path at an attachment of a partial train path to the existing total train path. The marker disables a processing of the total train path. A marker for back-tracing the remaining train paths is sent by the first element of the renewed total train path to the target element. Stored path information is deleted in all signal elements of the renewed path, outgoing from the target element and proceeding to the first element of the path, and the total path processing is initiated in the first element of the renewed path.
