Smart card for data transmission using contact- or contactless technology

The smart card comprises a body with recess (24) containing a chip with antenna contacts (31, 32). A layer (11) includes antenna(e), especially formed as coil in the body, having contacts (20, 21) for connection to the chip. The contacts have thickened sections (16, 17) embedded into the body of the card. These are coated on during working or milling of the recess. They form a conductive connection between the antenna contacts and the chip contacts (20, 21). Further claims include: the method of making the smart card; the smart card itself, with data transmission using contact-, or especially contactless technology; and a method of making both electrical and mechanical connections to a module using a hot-bonding or hot-melt adhesive. The corresponding bonding and arrangements are also claimed.
