Biogas reactor assembly for small-scale agricultural use

A biogas generation assembly consists of a cylindrical reactor (5) which is sub-divided (2, 3) in a cruciform pattern, has end-walls (1) and rests on bearings (6, 7), by which it can be rotated and inverted as required, mixing the contents. The reactor (5) has pipe inlets (8, 9, 10) and outlets with rotating couplings for the introduction of raw material and discharge of residues, and an overhead (1, 4) gas outlet pipe. The cruciform sub-dividing walls (2, 3) guide the fermenting mass in a U-shaped route through the reactor, minimising the incidence of route short cuts and facilitating the transfer of heat from the fermented mass to fresh mass. A corresponding biogas production process, involving fermentation at 10-70 deg C in a closed vessel which can be rotated through 180 deg , is also claimed.
