Spring element in treadmill for exercise of gait-impaired patients

The exercise treadmill incorporates a spring. The spring (1) is under compression and is horizontally positioned with rocker levers (3) on the left and right hand side of it. There are two movable crossbeams (6) which are fifty mm long. They are pivoted at the ends to the rocking levers which are fifty-five mm long. Pairs of levers are pivoted together and the ends of the spring are connected to these pivots. The spring may be one hundred and forty-five mm long and has a sharply rising load-deflection characteristic. The two crossbeams may be pulled apart when the treadmill is in use.
