Country-specific switchable control device for motor vehicle automatic transmission

The vehicle control system operates the automatic transmission and the IC engine within preset parameters and to a preset programme. To adjust the control mode to suit the particular requirements for other countries, eg. emission control levels, maximum speeds etc. an external switch (10) is fitted to the engine management system to enable the sealer to set the correct control mode. The external control can be a simple selector switch or the control programme can be set via the diagnostic connection. The vehicle owner does not have access to vary the setting.
