Thumb orthesis, especially for correcting defective thumb positions in saddle joint

The orthesis consists of a dimensionally stable moulded body (3), in the form of an oval closed ring with passage (4) in which to insert the thumb (5). The ring encloses the thumb over part of its length and is fixable to the hand (2). The ring surrounds the distal end between the thumb and the middle part of the hand (2a), and surrounds the proximal part of the thumb near the saddle joint (5f). The ring supports the ball of the thumb flat on the volar side, where it has a dorsally pointing protuberance (6) supporting the ball of the thumb.
