The arrangement has at least one prism (14) which can be covered by a light cover part. The tacheometer emits light towards the reflection arrangement and receives light reflected back from it. The light cover part is an opaque cylindrical sleeve (10) enclosing the prism, and has a window (11) in its sleeve surface. The sleeve can rotate about its longitudinal axis (13) so that the window can be moved along the axis of the light beam to allow light in, or to cover the prism with the sleeve.
