The invention relates to a device for folding out and vertically adjusting the central sleeper berth of a three-berth sleeping carriage compartment, the bolts of the frame of the said sleeping berth which are arranged at end sides being held in a rotationally movable and vertically displaceable fashion in guides which are provided at both ends on brackets which are fixed to the compartment wall and being capable of being moved into the out-of-use position or into the position of use by means of link arms arranged on the said guides. According to the invention, the problem of easy and secure adjustability of the sleeping berth is achieved in that the bolts (5) of the frame of the said sleeping berth are operatively connected to force transmitting elements (8) and can be secured with locking elements (6) provided in the lower regions of the guides (4), the guides (4) are provided in the upper regions with catches (10) which are coupled via pressing elements (9) and holding and restraining devices (11), the links (12) are guided so as to be vertically displaceable by means of link bolts (16) in preferably separate guides (4') which are provided on the brackets (3), the link bolts (16) being capable of being secured by means of holding webs (19) and a locking mechanism (18) and locking catches (13) which can be actuated by means of pressing elements (14) and holding and restraining devices (15) being capable of being locked to the upper end of the guides (4'), and the guides (4, 4') being of identical length and being arranged preferably offset in the brackets (3), the distance between the upper regions of the guides (4') and the lower regions of the guides (4) [lacuna] by the distance a and the length of a link arm (12)...
