Both tool halves for the deep drawing and stamping operation, are cooled by a flow of fluid. The cooling is controlled, in accordance with the temperature difference of the halves, by measuring their positive or negative, linear expansions. Thus the expansions are equalised, or held to a predetermined difference. Both expansions may be measured separately and used for control, or alternatively the differential between the expansions may be employed. In addition to the method described, a suitable moulding tool for its use, is also claimed.
