An electrostatic information recording medium comprises an electrode layer (1) and a charge-holding layer (2). (2) is made up by laminating a low glass transition temp. resin layer and a heat-resistant insulating layer on the electrode. Electrostatic information is recorded by imposing the information on the recording medium at RT or by heating to a temp. higher than the glass transition temp. before or after imposing the information. The information recording medium can also have a photosensitive layer, having a photoconductive layer formed on an electrode, facing a medium composed of an electrode layer and a charge-holding layer. The charge-holding layer can be a polymer layer having pentafluorostyrene as the monomer component which has a mean molecular weight of 10,000-2,000,000. The charge holding layer can be a laminated layer made of a polymer layer having pentafluorostyrene as the monomer unit and a fluoro resin. Recording is carried out by an exposure to light during application of a voltage across the two electrodes or by application of a voltage during the exposure to light. The electro-static latent image formed on the medium is held on the surface of the charge-holding layer by peeling the layer from the electrode and then exposing homogeneously to light. The electro-static latent image can also be held on a charge transit layer, formed on the electrode, on which the image is formed by a toner.
