PURPOSE: To simplify production since a recording film is required to be an only single layer and to use a material having a high Curie point as the material of the recording film as well as to eliminate the need for a magnetic field for initialization. ;CONSTITUTION: This magneto-optical disk is constituted by alternately providing recording tracks 8 and guiding tracks 9 and forming perpendicularly magnetized films 2 magnetized in one direction in the guiding tracks 9. The recording by the floating magnetic fields 10 of the perpendicularly magnetized films 2 is executed by irradiating only the recording tracks 8 with a light beam. The erasing by using the external magnetic fields is executed by irradiating a part of the recording tracks 8 and the guiding tracks 9 on both sides with the light beam.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
