A serum-free medium for the culture of postnatal central neurons

PURPOSE: To obtain a serum-free medium containing a platelet-derived growth factor(PDGF) and a bovine serum albumin(BSA) as active ingredients and capa ble of carrying out adhesion to good substrate, extension of a neurite and mainte nance of life in culturing a mature central neurocyte. ;CONSTITUTION: L-Glutamine, sodium pyruvate, glucose, sodium hydrogen carbonate, sodium selenite, transferrin, insulin, progesterone, putrescine, etc., is added to Eagle's minimum essential medium and further, vitronectin and interleukin-1β(1L-1β) are added thereto efficiently provide the objective serum- free medium for mature central neurocyte. The serum-free medium is capable of attaining adhesion to good substrate, extension of a neurite and maintenance of life and the medium has effect enabling stable and sure culture by using these ingredients in order to culture the mature central neurocyte.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
