A drive motor (22), in a split-shell housing (36,38), drives the slide-block axially (28) through a worm gear (24). The block, operating within a switch body (42) fixed to the lower housing (32), drives the bolt (14), within a guide (68), through a connecting spring which allows it to hesitate while the driver brings a steering column (12) notch (18) into alignment with it. Contact tracks, axially aligned, moulded into three inside walls of the switch body (42), emerge as connection terminals (90). These are bridged at one or more of the locked, unlocked and intermediate positions of the slide-block (28) by paired contacts (43,44,45) on the corresponding sides of block.
