The invention relates to a method of welding by interstitial casting of rails, the aluminothermally produced steel being cast in a form of refractory casting surrounding the ends of the rails to be joined, and alloying additives being brought into contact with the part of the steel which flows out of the reaction crucible, which forms the weld in the area of the rail head, by proceeding with the additive alloying of the alloying additives after completion of the aluminothermic reaction and separation of the slag steel, during pitting and before flow introduction into the hollow casting space formed through the casting form, and the overflow in the casting form being closed.
