The harness has a casing (1) which is anchored in place. The casing supports an axis (10) for a pulley (24) having a reeled cable (3) with the free end fixed to the harness. Springs (3) tension the cable and reel it onto the pulley. Brakes are provided to prevent rotation of the pulley. A sleeve (17) is rotatably mounted on the axis and the pulley is mounted on the sleeve. The sleeve is engaged in a damping disc (23) with a ratchet wheel (22) having peripheral teeth. The disc is locked between a cheek (24b) of the pulley and the corresponding face of the ratchet wheel. The end of the sleeve cooperates with the ratchet wheel which has an external thread (19). A pawl has a beak (31a) and a heel at the other end to control release of the cable.
