The memorial takes the form of a garden seat (10). The seat has two H-shaped supports (11,12). The supports have recesses (13,14) that are provided in upright and horizontal portions of the supports. Granite slats (15-16) span the spacing between the supports and are fixed into the recesses to provide seating surfaces. Each of the supports has a cylindrical chamber (17) that extends vertically from the recess. A receptacle (18) containing the cremated remains may be placed in each of the chambers before they are covered through use of the granite slat. Alternatively the memorial could take the shape of a flower pot stand. with a bowl for receiving flowers and a stand with a cylindrical chamber inside it for receiving the cremation containing receptacles.
