Preparation of calcium and calcium/magnesium phosphates

Calcium phosphates and calcium-magnesium phosphates are prepared by solid phase reaction between superphosphates (18% and/or 45% phosphorous pentoxide) and calcium oxide, calcium oxide/magnesium oxide and/or magnesium oxide. Also claimed is an apparatus for carrying out this reaction. It comprises two chutes, (1 & 2) for the separate introduction of the starting materials, at least one nozzle (4) for spraying water into an initial reactor (3), leading to the main reactor (5) through channel (9). Steam formed is released through an expansion chamber (7) and eliminated through an exhaust system (8). The product (6) is recovered from the base of the reactor (5).
