Manufacture of alternator from asynchronous motor for wind power

The material (13) in the grooves (11) of the rotor (7) are removed by milling to a sufficient depth to replace bars with permanent magnets (12N, 12S) while retaining enough material to protect the grooves. The magnets are prismatic in shape and are eight in number to match the bars on a suitable squirrel cage. The motor pulley may be connected to a propeller by a belt and connected electrically to a rectifier with a series load resistor and a battery. A voltage of 380 V at 43 Hz is formed at a rate of rotation of 650 r.p.m., creating currents of the order of 100 A and reducing in proportion to the speed.
