A method of calibrating a vector network analyser comprises: measuring a source reflection coefficient 101 when at least one reflection standard is connected to the source port and measuring the transmission tracking error and load reflection coefficient 103 when a thru line is connected between the source and load ports. These measurements are then used to correct a transmission coefficient measurement 105 taken when a device under test (DUT) is connected between the source and load ports. These measurement may be used to correct a transmission coefficient measurement taken when a device under test is connected between the source and load ports. The measurements made in the above methods may be combined to correct for errors present in a transmission coefficient measurement made by a vector network analyser.
