Closure fitting and flexibility support assembly for double- containment piping systems

In a closure fitting assembly two identical fittings are adapted to be coupled together in a mirror-image relationship for closing a gap between containment components in a double-containment system. Each fitting defines a first axially-extending fusion surface located on one side of the fitting; a second axially-extending fusion surface located on an opposite side of the fitting relative to the first axially- extending fusion surface; a first circumferentially-extending fusion surface located on one end of the fitting; and a second circumferentially- extending fusion surface located on an opposite end of the fitting. Axially-extending fusion wires are interposed within the seams formed between opposing axially-extending fusion surfaces, and circumferentially- extending fusion wires are seated against each circumferentially- extending fusion surface for receiving electric current to heat the wires and in turn fuse opposing surfaces together. A flexibility support is also formed between the two fittings to permit axial, lateral and/or radial movement of the carrier components relative to the closure fitting and other containment components.
