PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an Al-Si-Mg series hot dip Al base plated steel sheet producible by using an ordinary hot dip plating line in which the surface of a plating bath is composed of an air atmosphere and excellent in surface proper ties. ;SOLUTION: This steel sheet has, on the surface, a hot dip plating layer contg., by mass, 3 to 13% Si, 2 to 8% Mg, 0.002 to 0.08%, preferably 0.003 to 0.05% Be and 0 to 0.1% Sr (including the case of no addition), and the balance Al with inevitable impurities, or that layer contg. 3 to 13% Si, 2 to 8% Mg, 0 to 0.003% Be (including the case of no addition), and 0.07 to 1.7%, preferably 0.1 to 1.0% Sr, and the balance Al with inevitable impurities or the layer contg. 3 to 13% Si, 2 to 8% Mg, 0.003 to 0.08%, preferably 0.003 to 0.05% Be and 0.1 to 1.7%, preferably 0.1 to 1.0% Sr, and the balance Al with inevitable impurities.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
