PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure strain in a structure body on the basis of displacement of the surface of the structure body. ;SOLUTION: Angular velocity sensors 1, 2 are stuck on the surface of a structure body 5. As to the structure body 5, a steel frame 4 is buried in concrete 3. The angular velocity sensors 1, 2 are so fixed on the surface of the structure body 5 that the bending force of the structure body 5 is applied to the sensitive shafts of the sensors, When angular velocity signals at two points of the structure body 5 detected by the sensors 1, 2 are supplied to a converting circuit 6, it converts the signals to dynamic strain. That is, the converting circuit 6 integrates angular velocities ω1, ω2, obtains deformation angles ϕ1, ϕ2, and operates the radius of curvature (r) of the steel frame 4 on the basis of the deformation angles ϕ1, ϕ2. Strain on the steel frame 4 can be obtained from the radius of curvature (r) of the steel frame 4.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
