PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the welding defect detection method of stainless steel thin sheet TIG welding and the automatic welding equipment with welding diagnosis function which is applicable without a large scale pretest, has a high detection precision of a welding defect part and simple control contents and is capable of processing with a relatively slow speed processor in real time. ;SOLUTION: The automatic welding equipment, which welds with a fixed peak current and a pulse current having a base current respectively, is provided with a base voltage sampling device 12, an average voltage arithmetic unit 14, a detection discrimination device 16 and a defect display device 18. A base voltage corresponding to a base current is sampled, an average voltage in a fixed time before sampling is operated, a difference between the sampled base voltage and the average base voltage is operated to be compared to a prescribed threshold value, in the case the difference between the sampled base voltage and the average base voltage exceeds the threshold value, it is discriminated as a defect, the position discriminated as defect is displayed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
