TOOL HOLDER AND CUTTING CHATTERING PHENOMENON ELIMINATING METHOD USING ITS HOLDER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate chattering phenomenon by changing the natural frequency of a tool system when a chattering phenomenon occurs during cutting operation. ;SOLUTION: To install a tool holder 12 on a tool post 1, a T nut 4 is installed on the tool post 1, and a tightening bolt 14 for tightening the tool holder 12 is screwed into the T nut 4. Also, a plurality of nest type cylindrical spring members 19 different in length from each other are installed as a spring member of which spring constant is varied by pressing between a head part 17 of the tightening bolt 14 and a bolt counterbored hole 15 of the tool holder 12. Under this condition, the T nut 4 is pressed downward by a piezoelectric device 8 so as to deform the cylindrical spring member 19. Thus the spring constant is varied so as to vary the natural frequency of a tool system.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
