PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cut longitudinal fibers of a veneer at cuts or near the cuts by line-ruling blades before changing while a cut veneer and an uncut veneer on which cuts are formed are carried when the positions of the line-ruling blades in a veneer lathe are changed. ;SOLUTION: Before cuts 10 reach circular knives 85 arranged approximately on extensions in the carrying direction of the cuts 10, a veneer is carried while the first tailings 14 cut by means of line-ruling blades before changing are moved in the directions parting from the first veneer 12 and longitudinal fibers of the veneer are cut at cuts or near the cuts by means of the circular knives 85.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
