MANUFACTURE OF WOOD CHIP AND WOOD CEMENT BOARD USING WOOD CHIP

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wood cement board which is free from generation of unevenness in bending, tensile strength, moisture absorption characteristics, heat insulating properties and sound insulating properties. SOLUTION: Wood chips WT, planer chips 72, small pieces 74 made of an ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, pearlite 76 and cement paste 78 are mixed, and this mixture is further compressed and set as a whole to obtain the wood cement board 70. The wood chips WT are obtained by shaving a wood of some length to the specified width from a direction orthogonal with the long direction of the wood, and forming a long-size cut material. in a direction orthogonal with the fiber direction, at the same time, splitting the cut material into plural pieces in the fiber direction or the edge grain direction as a boundary. Consequently, the wood cement board has numerous wood chips, extending in an almost straight line fashion, mixed in a cement paste in the fiber direction, so that the adjacent wood chips are tightly entangled with each other. In addition, the wood chips are not curled and therefore, no large voids are generated in the curl-shaped interior as are conventionally.
