PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select the conversion of a bipolar substitutional shell into a unipolar substitutional condyle by fixing a cylindrical barrel having a rotary flange and an elastic connecting member for returning a second diameter to a first diameter after a compressive force is removed and fixing an adapter to a substitutional shell. ;SOLUTION: For use, a cylindrical part 11 is inserted into the opening of a bipolar substitutional shell 60, and a barrel 16 is extended downward from an adapter 10. The top part of the cylindrical part 11 is brought into contact with a shelf part 72 in the shell opening, and then a ball plunger 14 pressed by a spring is fitted in a groove 70 formed in the bipolar substitutional shell 60. Accordingly, the adapter 10 is fitted in the bipolar substitutional shell 60 and held by the spring-pressed ball plunger 14 in the groove 70. The barrel 16 serves as a connect part with an substitutional femoral neck part trunnion. A femoral neck part rotary shaft part is inserted into the opening 21 of the barrel 16 so as to be connected with the adapter 10.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
