PRETREATMENT OF STOCK COAL FOR COKE PRODUCTION, AND PRODUCTION OF COKE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for pretreating stock coal for coke production, which prevents dust formation and carry-over during the stock charging step, and practically allows use of a large quantity of unpulverized caking coal and spent plastics as stocks for cake for blast furnaces. SOLUTION: This method for pretreating stock coal for coke production pulverizes the stock coal incorporated with unpulverized caking coal, dries this stock coal to a moisture content of 6 wt.% or less, continuously separates the fine coal from the residual coarse coal, kneads the separated fine coal with a bituminous binder, and mixes the kneaded product with the residual coarse coal. The stock coal is incorporated with 5 wt.% or less of spent plastics at an optional point from the separation step to the step of charging the stock coal into a cake oven's carbonization chamber. This method for producing coke carbonizes the pretreated stock coal in a coke oven's carbonization chamber.
