PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the precipitation of carbides, to suppress the consumption of an electrode or a graphite space, therefore to improve the efficiency of an electric sintering machine and to prevent the melting of the electrode. ;SOLUTION: The electrode for an electric sintering machine is the one in which at least the surface is not reacted with a spacer and is composed of a material having the m.p. higher than the temp. in the vicinity of the electrode. The electrode for an electric sintering machine is the one in which a layer of a material not reacted with the electrode and the spacer and having the m.p. higher than the temp. in the vicinity of the electrode is formed between the electrode and spacer. The material not reacted with the spacer and having the m.p. higher than the temp. in the vicinity of the electrode is composed of copper in the case the temp. in the vicinity of the electrode is ≤1080°C, of nickel in the case of 1080 to 1450°C, of zircon in the case of 1450 to 1880°C and of tungsten in the case of 1880 to 3387°C respectively.
