PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the judgement system for a passenger guard system for a vehicle which can judge appropriately the operation condition of passenger guard device according to the severity of collision of a vehicle by using a difference in detection output of acceleration sensors provided respectively on the front part and the central part in fore and rear direction of the vehicle. SOLUTION: An acceleration sensor 40L is provided on the left side of the front part of a vehicle and detects an acceleration on the basis of collision between an obstacle and the vehicle. An acceleration sensor 30 is provided on the central part in the fore and aft direction thereof and detects an acceleration on the basis of the collision therebetween. A phase judgement circuit 50 judges whether or not a difference in phase between the detection outputs of both acceleration sensors is a first phase difference or whether or not it is a second phase difference smaller than it. A collision judgement circuit 60 issues a first or second judgement signal when it judges that the collision occurs in a first severity or a second severity smaller than it according to the detection output from the acceleration sensor 30, and a judgement output circuit 70 outputs first or second judgement signal to an air bag device A thereafter.
