PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data processing method for a defect sector in a DVD- RAM system. ;SOLUTION: A DVD-RAM system is started in step 600, a title of a desired file is inputted, a sector having a title of a file inputted by a user is retrieved in a step 602, a physical sector address of a retrieved sector is specified in step 604, a defect list is read out in step 606, the physical sector address is compared with the defect list in step 608, it is tested whether the physical sector address exists in the defect list or not in step 610, if it does not exist, sector data corresponding to the physical sector address is stored in a memory of a signal processing section in step 612, if it exists, sector data corresponding to the physical sector address is not stored in a memory of a signal processing section in step 614.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
