PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an encoding method which can encode transmission data so that an optical communication can be made without causing any malfunction in other optical communication devices by determining symbols and encoding the transmission data according to the determined symbols. ;SOLUTION: On the side of the ASK receiver, a receive light signal pattern 104' is inputted to an O/E conversion part 203' first. The O/E conversion part 203' consists of a PinPD 216, an amplifier 217 and a BPF 218, and outputs a received electric signal pattern 105. This signal is detected by a detection part 204 and then a symbol pattern 106 is obtained. A clock regeneration part 205 consists of a PLL 220. A decoding part 206 regenerates reception data 108 from a regeneration clock 107 regeneration by a clock regeneration part 205 and the symbol pattern 106. A decoding part 206 consists of a shift register 221 and a conversion table 222.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
