PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure an angle with higher accuracy without depending on the efficiency of a receiver and without enlarging an opening of an antenna. ;SOLUTION: Waves coming from a wave source are received at antenna elements 131-134 arranged via an arrangement distance (d), and the reception signals are combined by a synthesis circuit 1 through variable amplitude devices 121-124 and variable phase shifters 111-114 respectively. An amplitude variation amount A121-A124 of each variable amplitude device and a phase shift amount δ111-114 of each variable phase shifter are adjusted so that the same signal as when the waves are received by a virtual antenna element 13 is output from the synthesis circuit 1. The other antenna elements 231-234, 331-334, 431-434 are subjected to the same process, whereby virtual antenna elements 13, 23, 33, 43 are formed via a distance 4d. A direction from which the waves come is obtained on the basis of a MUSIC algorithm from the outputs of the virtual antenna elements.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
