PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a high-speed operation without losing a high torque low- speed operation performance by making one-phase target current of a bi-phase coil, that is energized differently from the target current value of the other phase at the same time. SOLUTION: At an intermediate to high speed operation where the operation speed of a reluctance motor is at a specific speed or higher, one target current value of a bi-phase coil that is energized simultaneously is determined to be smaller or larger than the other target current value regarding a target current value Iu, a target current value Iw, and a target current value Iv, thus making a torque constant smaller than that at a low-speed operation region, suppressing the increase in a back electromotive force, and suppressing the decrease in a conduction current. Therefore, at an intermediate to high speed operation region, current equivalent to a magnetic field current is reduced, thus reducing the torque constant, spreading the operation region to a high-speed side, and hence achieving a high-speed operation, without losing high-torque low-speed operation performance.
