PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the numbers of memory accesses and calculation operations upon executing median filtering and averaging in post treatment of a CT image for reducing ring artifact in the CT image. ;SOLUTION: In a method for computer tomograph 1 with a general purpose computer 8 for post-treating of a reorganized CT image to represent a whole or a part of a measurement field 10 of a computer tomograph 1 of a layer of an object O based on application ring suppression filtering so that a pixel value within a range including a whole or a part of a CT image is treated by one or more filtering and averaging in particular and at that time, median filtering and averaging are executed by a large number of executing directions and the calculation of the pixel value within said range is orderly calculated or the pixel values of pixels positioned in the executing direction every time are calculated considering pixel values used for at least two forgoging calculations of at least executing directions every time.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
