PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable efficient decomposition of a reaction product such as PCB through stirring a solid matter or the like adequately after incorporating the solid matter into a reaction container, then supplying gas into the reaction container and forming a stirring flow in the reaction container by the supply of the gas and further, making the solid matter react with the gas. ;SOLUTION: When performing a process to decompose PCB, a mixture 121 of PCB, a PCB solvent mineral oil, water and sodium carbonate is pressurized and preheated to be atomized into a reaction container 101 from a liquid supply nozzle 102, and at the same time, an oxidizing agent 131 is supplied from a gas supply nozzle 103. Consequently, PCB gives rise to a solid/gas contact reaction with the sodium carbonate in the reaction container 101 into biphenyl and sodium chloride. The biphenyl and the mineral oil undergo an oxidation reaction with the oxidizing agent 131 into carbon dioxide and water. The carbon dioxide, steam, sodium carbonate and sodium chloride in the reaction container 101 are sent into a cyclone separator 105 through cyclone supply piping 152 and the sodium carbonate solid matter is separated.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
