PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the operability by application to the hierarchical information display device which displays information in an information file having a hierarchical structure on a screen while moving in the hierarchical structure corresponding to user's operation according to the information file. ;SOLUTION: To display desired information on the screen by moving one layer to another while sequentially reading a hierarchically structured HTML script in a browser, hierarchical structure information showing the hierarchical structure of the HTML script is obtained (step S210), an HTML script name which is read newly at the time of page update on the side of the browser is obtained (steps S225 and S245), and the current layer position is analyzed on the basis of the obtained hierarchical structure information and HTML script name (steps S230 and S250) and displayed in a navigator window (steps S235 and S255).;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
