PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To purify water by housing a three-dimensional space structure body made of wires in a gabion made of wire netting and directly laying a composite structural body in which stuffing stones for weights are filled in the peripheral parts, in a natural water area. ;SOLUTION: The specifications of a three-dimensional space structure body 1 made of wires are 30-45 kg/m³ in weight, 5-50 cm ϕ in opening, 97-99% in opening ratio on surface, 55-65 m² in specific surface area, 93.0-95.5% in void ratio, 80-100 kgf/about 1:20 cm in 10% deformation of pressure resistance. Spherical or other structural bodies 1 are contained in a gabion 4 made of wires and stuffing stones 5 for weights are filled in the peripharal parts to form a composite structural body. And the structural body is directly laid in a natural water area such as a closed, a transitory, or other conditions to oxidize and decompose organic materials in water and purify the water as a contact member. Lower organic materials being into contact with phytoplankton as primary producers and zooplankton as primary users of the food chain sticking as biofilm to the wires of the structural body 1 are eaten as food and oxidized to form a stable ecosystem pyramid and purify water.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
