PENETRATION PROJECTIVE WITH MANY COLLISION SECTIONS INCLUDING EXPLOSIVE SECTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a penetration projectile that can collide with many targets by successively arranging front, intermediate, and rear penetration projectile sections along the longitudinal axis of the penetration projectile, and by incorporating an explosive element in the penetration projectile. ;SOLUTION: A penetration projectile 10 has front and rear end parts 12 and 14 and a longitudinal axis 16 being extended between the front and rear end parts 12 and 14, and comprises a plurality of overlapped penetration projectile sections 20-28 including front, intermediate, and rear penetration projectile sections 20, 21-27, and 28 respectively. The outer appearance of the tip part of the intermediate penetration projectile section 21 is of a tapered shape, and the rear end part is of a right circular cylinder shape which is coaxial with the longitudinal axis 16. The rear end part has a cavity opened further backward, and a tapered shape of the tip part of another penetration projectile section is accommodated in the cavity opened backward. Then, an arbitrary groove positioned between the tip and rear end parts enables the penetration projectile 10 to be covered with a sabot.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
