PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an object management architecture for a distributed system correspond to similar objects related to each other by using a single interface on a client side and performing the call processing of a remote object in an active as well as in an inactive state. ;SOLUTION: A proxy object 205 assumes one of plural implementations according to an active or inactive state of the object. At the time of being called by a process 202, the proxy object 205 packages the call by using an appropriate implementation and transfers it to a remote computer. A result received from the remote computer is delivered through the proxy object 205 to the process 202. Thus, a single method is activated to the active and inactive objects.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
